Does the Cheerios Diet Help Lose Weight? What We Know

It's no surprise that breakfast cereals have been criticized for their extra sugar.

The Cheerios diet suggests 1-2 cups in the morning, 3/4 cup before lunch, and 3/4 cup as an afternoon snack.

Healthline reports 1 gram of sugar, 3 grams of fiber, 3 grams of protein, 2 grams of fat, calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamins A, C, D, and B12 in one cup.

Nutritionist and author Lisa Richards (via SheFinds) says "Most cereals, even those marketed as healthy, can be damaging to your weight loss goals."

Cheerios may be the worst, especially if you get most of your nutrition from it.

Protein and fiber keep you fuller, so eating enough is part of a healthy weight reduction regimen.
